Rosengård ward intact after late decision

Rosengård has come a long way towards his first home defeat of the season.

Then Rebecca Knaak decided in overtime and saved three points for Skåne.

“I’m very happy with this victory, we believed in it all along,” says match champion Rebecca Knack at Viaplay.

Series leader Rosengård is fighting an uphill battle for series victory at Women’s All-Svenskan, and in the home match against Vittsjö, a final push was needed to stay one step ahead of Kristianstad in the table.

Center back Rebecca Knack gave the home team the lead already four minutes later when she was left in front of a corner kick, but before the first half, visitors Witso equalized and turned the game around after two goals in just three minutes.

Slim winger – decided in injury time

Rosengard pushed hard at times in the second half, calling, among other things, for a penalty when Stephanie Sanders was run over in the penalty area. But there was no penalty.

The search for the equalizer continued, and with ten minutes remaining, the goal was reached. Stephanie Sanders cleverly scored 2-2, a goal that seemed to save at least a point for Rosengard.

But in the 94th minute, Rebecca Knack stayed ahead again when she headed it 3-2 for the home team. A goal would mean an important win and mean Rosengard keeps Kristianstad, who crushed Djurgården 4-0 earlier on Saturday, three points behind them in the standings.

We know we are a better team and we can score goals. It’s always a lot of emotion when you score a goal so late, Rebecca Knaak says after her late decision, it’s a team effort that shows a strong mentality.
