Rumors of AIK goalkeeper Samuel Brolin for Malmö FF: ‘Honorable’

Samuel Brolin talks about the future at AIK

Samuel Brolin, 22, has a contract with AIK.

But according to Fotbollskanalen, Malmö FF is showing an interest in the goalkeeper.

– It’s an honor that such rumors spread, Brolin tells Sportbladet.

He wasn’t worried at all. Just like last season, Mjällby finally finished 9th in the Allsvenskan table. After a strong start to the season, Listerlandet never participated in the bottom fight.

– It was a good season, it was fun and eventful. There is probably a lot of ups and downs a little bit. I leave the season feeling good, says Samuel Brolin, before declaring that a certain void has now arisen:

During the season, many people feel “hell, it would be nice to have a vacation.” But now you’re here and you think it’s a lot of fun to play matches.

One year left on the contract with AIK

The 22-year-old has been on loan from AIK to Mjällby, two seasons in a row. Last year goalkeeper Landes was hit by Carljohan Eriksson, but this year he has scored 29 out of 30 matches.

– Those are good stats. I was actually sitting and thinking about it that day, there was more goalkeeper rotation than usual at Allsvenskan. There can never be many who have played 30 games. Oskar Jansson (IFK Norrköping) knows I did, says Brolin.

How do you feel when you compare this year’s season to last year’s season?

– Obviously I’m leaving feeling better. I contributed as much as I could and showed the front of my feet over the course of an entire season. You obviously contribute to a good atmosphere and you try to be a good teammate when you’re on the bench, but this is an industry where you want to show your footing. This season has been an upward swing.

Brolin has a contract with AIK during the next season. The question now is whether he will return to the big club, which includes Christopher Nordfeldt alongside the goalkeeper, or if it will be another title for the club.

– I have no idea actually. I didn’t start to speculate that much. I’ve tried to focus on building my body and getting ready for next season. My agent can take on this other job. But I don’t close any doors, he says.

What is a good next step for you?

– Somewhere where I can play, haha.

“He intends to be there and fight.”

Brolin gives a slightly more detailed answer.

– Somewhere where I have a good starting location to play. Now I’m at the top level in Sweden and play for Allsvenskan. We’ll see if there will be a continuation of the svenscan play or not. I have no idea. Then obviously you can never be told that you can play 30 out of 30 games. But I still want to be somewhere where the starting point is to get a chance to show my front legs. Then it’s up to me to perform the show and prove that I can.

Are you likely to play in AIK next season?

– I have no idea. It’s up to AIK, as I have a contract with AIK. Now I’m about to be there and fight for a place in January. Then we’ll see if we can agree on something else.

– In my head, I’m at the site in Karlberg at the beginning of January. Then we’ll see if you’re there or somewhere else.

Wouldn’t you have any problem competing with Nordfeldt? Would you rather be in a place where it is more “given” that you have first place?

– I think there are advantages to both. If you have a “certain” place somewhere, it obviously builds self-confidence. And then you can work on other things, unlike if you have a competitive situation. If I were to work with Nordfeldt, it would obviously pay me. It didn’t have to be so negative.

I haven’t seen him many times, but from what I heard, he’s a good man.

Rumored to Malmö FF

Last week, Fotbollkanalen reported that Malmo FF Shows interest in 22-year-old Brolin. The site wrote that the MFF has yet to extend Ismael Diawara, who has an expired contract, so Brolin could be a conceivable replacement.

– Nothing I know about. But it is clear that the spread of such rumors is honorable. There is an association in Sweden that works very well. But I have nothing to comment on that. Brolin says it’s great to have interest, whatever the club.

Can’t you deny it?

– I do not know anything. I didn’t hear a peep about him from the inside.

What did you think when you read about it?

– Yes, what was I thinking? It’s nice if someone thinks I’m fine. At the same time, you have to take everything that has been leaked through the media with a pinch of salt. You don’t know where it came from, whether it’s reliable sources or something people know. You should not take such matters seriously.

Would it be sensitive with the possibility of moving to MFF, given that you belong to AIK?

– I don’t know. This must be dealt with if it ever happens. Nothing to think of.
