Saltsjöbaden display special goal gestures

An interest in hunting was behind one of the targeted gestures.

Over the breakfast table, the Saltsjöbaden P06 team decided how they would celebrate their achievements during the Gothia Cup.

– Some friends sent the clips and asked “what the hell is going on?” , says Gustav Rotzmann, 16, about reactions after posting films of target gestures on social media.

As a sign of the goal, the ten players gathered on the field sitting straight and paddling in the air.

In celebration of the goal, Gustav Rotsman played the fish and his teammate Neo Öhrn played the fisherman.

Normally, Saltsjöbaden’s P06 does not plan target gestures. But during the Gothia Cup, they put on an extra show.

And what they will do decide at breakfast.

The idea came from fishing

A target gesture where Rotsman’s acting skills are put to the test as a fish with a history stretching far back in time.

He and Oren live next door. When they were young, they loved to fish in the Öhrn Pool and always thought that fishing was fun. Through old football clips, they’ve also seen others make a goal gesture where one team is serving as a fish and the other a fisherman catching a teammate on the hook.

“We felt we had to do it if one of us scored a goal,” says Rotsman, who was lying on the hill jumped three times straight before getting up.

And lice drew the lottery and became a fish?

– Yes exactly. He scored the goal, then became the fish.

The goal gesture that never came

There were “only” two great gestures to the goal, but more were planned.

Rotsman describes the celebration that Saltsjöbaden did not feature “Bowling”. The name says it all. The goal scorer recovers the ball and rolls it toward teammates who line up like bowling pins and fall.

But Iceland’s Felker was knocked out again in the round of 32 of the A-qualifiers, denying fans the chance to see a different goal gesture.

– Rotsman says it was a very difficult match to lose.

From the group stage, Saltsjöbaden advanced in the second set after victories against Norway’s Re Fotballklubb 1 (7-1) and Sweden’s Byttorps IF (3-1) and a loss against Iceland FC KR 1 (0-4).

– I think we played well in the group stage, says Rotesman.

In the first playoff match, Saltsjöbaden won against the Swedish Dösjöbro IF.
