Giant Honors for Hallam: “Best”
Riga / Stockholm. Sweden had the opportunity to challenge the Latvian goal 3-1 – but refused.
The reason was simple.
– We went through three situations and made the right choice in each of them, says Sam Hallam.
Sweden was eliminated from the World Cup of Hockey after losing 3-1 to Latvia in the quarter-finals.
Huge disappointment and frustration. I think the players are doing well there, even if we don’t get paid for it, as national team captain Sam Hallam said afterwards.
On the score 3-1, deep in the third period, Lacey Johansson was upset just before.
– I think they look at it entirely in the time you have. Obviously, says Henrik Tömmernes, Lasse is probably a little out of his area.
Giant tribute
In WC there is a challenge to use a trainer, but Sweden chose not to.
– There’s not much to think about. We get a message from the video rack with what they see from all the cameras out there. We’ve been through three situations and made the right choice in each of them, so I trust our people we’ve got it now too, says Sam Hallam.
Despite the quarter-final exit, the captain of the national team was highly praised by assistant general manager Joseph Boumedienne.
– I think it’s a shame for the boys, because they worked like crazy. I think the coaches did a very good job. I’ve spent 27 years playing professional hockey in various roles, and Sam is the best coach I’ve ever had, he says.
