Sävehof player develops myocarditis – ends his career

Eleanor Nelson Ostrom could end her handball career by winning the gold in Sweden.

The 28-year-old, who previously had myocarditis, is choosing to retire after the final streak.

– I will live for many more years, says Nelson Ostrom to Göteborgs-Posten.

In 2020, Elinor Nelson Ostrom, a player for FC Svehof, suffered from inflammation of the heart muscle. In addition to her handball career, she works as a nurse and has since taken some samples “stable” but higher than others.

Tonight, Nelson Ostrom can become Swedish champion with his team IK Savehof. It could also be her last match. The 28-year-old chose to end his career.

– It (the heart) is not something that stops me as a player, and that is probably not the main reason. I wanted to play, but there is life outside of handball too. The heart is important, and I will live for many more years, Nelson Ostrom tells my family doctor.

It was a few days off

The 28-year-old feels that handball has taken up a large part of her time this year.

– My time has completely disappeared, she says and continues:

We travel every weekend, and you must have time to work, sleep, wash and clean. This season I got a maximum of five days off from playing handball and working.

Sävehof leads the final series against Skuru with a score of 2-1 in matches. The fourth night’s match starts at 18.10.
