Security guard arrested – Israel national team salutes Hitler

An anti-Semitic scandal rocks the European Athletics Championships in Munich.

On Tuesday evening, a 19-year-old man was arrested for performing the Hitler salute against 16 Israeli athletes.

On Monday, the Israeli team won the gold medal in the marathon.

The next day, the team headed to the Olympic massacre memorial site Munich 1972 – 50 years since the massacre.

That’s when the anti-Semitic attack occurred.

On the way there, one of the security guards threw a “Hitler salute” to the sixteen athletes. An incident in which the 19-year-old guard was arrested.

“One of the four guards present was seen at approximately 7:20 pm saluting the National Socialist,” German police wrote in a statement.

The man now risks paying a fine or imprisonment for a maximum of three years.

The gesture was not noticed by the team itself when it occurred, but it was one of the policemen protecting the Israeli team who noticed Hitler’s salute.

The 19-year-old is now banned from the rest of the tournament.

The timing is the aspect that made the event even more controversial, as Munich is hosting the tournament 50 years after the massacre of eleven Israeli athletes.

A number of Palestinians from the Black September terrorist group entered the Olympic Village and took several Israelis hostage before demanding that Israel release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Israel refused to accede to the demands and the hostages were executed. Several members of the terrorist group were also killed by German police. Tragedy.
