Siyavush Fallahi crying on TV4 before Wales-Iran in the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Siyavush Fellahi crying in the TV studio before Wales-Iran at the World Cup

The Iranian national team sang the national anthem again.

Before the match, expert Syafush Fallahi sat with tears in his eyes in the studio talking about the situation in Iran.

– It’s my country, my family, he says.

Iran saw major protests this fall after the death in September of 22-year-old Mahsa Gina Amini after she was arrested for allegedly improperly wearing a headscarf.

As the Iranian national football team lined up for the opening World Cup match against England, they showed their support for the protests by remaining silent during the national anthem.

But when it came time to play Wales in the group stage for the second time in the World Cup, they called off their protest.

Iranian players can be seen in television pictures moving their lips as boos are heard from the stands.

– The Iranian national team has been put under pressure and pressured players to take part in the national anthem, says commentator Adam Penthorpe at C Moore.

Siawash Falahi worried

The situation in Iran is more concerned by expert Siawash Fallahi. In the TV channel studio before Wells-Iran, he struggled to hold back his tears.

– It’s my country, it’s my family. It’s tough. I was not there. But I feel so much awful for people who are out on the streets risking their lives, it’s incredible courage. Above all, I have great admiration for those who dare, he says with tears in his throat and tears in his eyes before Lotta Schelin places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
