The successful goalkeeper’s fifth clean sheet in the qualifiers this year in 11 appearances. A very impressive finale. He can now erase Henrik Lundqvist’s record of six shutouts in a playoff game. He managed to achieve the record for the longest clean sheet in a season already in the regular season.
After securing the last place, Soderström chose to remain in the dressing room rather than meet the media.
Maybe he’s a little tired, he just emptied himself. They pressed hard in both the second and third periods. Christer Holm says he has to fill up and focus on recharging.
How is he doing?
– I think he’s doing a good job, I think he’s really cool. But it’s like making a hole in a balloon when you resist and hold the guard for too long.
It was a dream to work with him
After SM gold with HV71 in 2017, there was a lot of trouble for the skilled goalkeeper. But Christer Holm really wanted to take Linus Söderström to Skellefteå
– I learned that he has some God-given gifts. Then he had trouble with his body during his years in North America. I saw that he started playing more and more in Finland. I think he looked really good there, that he looked pretty much like the last time he played in Sweden with the HV71, and then he was really good.
Was it at the top of your wish list?
– Yes, that’s how it was, then the contracts will run out, and this time it worked.
Was working with Soderstrom a bit of a dream?
– Yes, but I have to say that. Really, says Christer Holm.
