Sophie Hanson did the job.
The Swede comfortably qualified for the semi-finals of the World Swimming Championships.
Sophie HansonThe 23-year-old traveled home from the World Short Track Championships last winter with five medals. Before the World Championships in Budapest, expectations were high.
– I have dreams of coming home with something around my neck, sure. It’s going to be very tough and tight, Hanson told Sportbladet earlier this week.
Today I completed the test session in the 100m breaststroke – and the Swede bought a ticket to the semi-finals as expected. Hanson finished after 1:06.61, which meant he finished second in his qualifying. In total, the 23-year-old took sixth place.
Emily Fast, 18, finished 31st, failing to advance to the semifinals.
– I’m not satisfied, that’s me. I’m nervous, but I thought I could keep it together. It’s a shame, she told SVT.
The semi-final match will be decided tonight, around 18:30.
But the first Swede to come out on Saturday was 22-year-old Hannah Roosevel, who ran in the 100m backstroke. Having finished fifth in his group, Roosevel managed to break into 14th overall – so the 22-year-old is ready for the semi-finals.
– it’s a wonderful feeling! I had the chance of this race to allow me to swim tonight. If everything is not right, then nothing will be. But it actually felt great. This was my fastest swimming experience ever, I told SVT.
