Football bears an enormous shared responsibility in the fight against climate change. Football globally emits a lot of greenhouse gases, and there are plenty of opportunities to reduce emissions without affecting the game on the pitch, says Sophie Junji Pedersen in an interview with Via Ritzau.

Sophie Young Pedersen says the sport is under threat.
– It’s about creating concrete climate measures between fans and businesses. It is a shared responsibility and in the interest of the individual. She says the extreme heat and precipitation are also a threat to football as we know it today.
Junge Pedersen is also active in many other projects that protect the climate and also helps football organizations around the world. Since 2014, she has been a volunteer in Ghana.
– I have always been interested in the development of Africa and this is what I want to do when I finish my career. I was looking for a place to go on vacation in 2014 and I found a Danish organization that did volunteer work in Ghana, she told This Football Times.
– I went there for two weeks to train some girls and I really felt like I had more to give. I said I wanted to help the local Ghanaian organization there to improve conditions for girls who play soccer as well as for boys in the villages. I’m really interested in him and I think I have something to offer, which is why I kept helping.
