Still heavy for Frolland – fell against Malmö in the SHL

Anthony Grikos, left. Frölunda on Thursday went to its fourth straight loss. SHL jumbo Malmö turned out to win 3–2 after overtime.

Frölunda continues to grope for form.

Against Malmö came the fourth consecutive loss, despite leading 2-0 in the third period. Malmö, however, equalized late on, and Karl Persson made it 3-2 to Skåne in extra time.

– Anton Wahlberg, who scored twice for Malmö 2-2, said to Si Moore that we all turn to him at the last minute.

The list of sick and injured in Frölunda is now slightly shorter. Jacob Nilsson and Ryan Lash are back against Malmö, while Jan Murczak, Max Friberg and Patrick Carlsson are still missing.

Jumbo Malmo have won three of their last four matches.

The hosts were hotter in the first half, firing 15 shots on goal against Brandon Maxwell in Malmoborn. However, the sharpness was lacking at times, not least at the ends.

More speed in Frölunda

But for Frölunda it was a clear step forward, compared to the last two matches.

– It’s much better, I think. A passing game above all, speed through the middle area, says Frölunda captain Joel Lundqvist to C More after halftime.

The second term is no different from the first. And it was still 0-0 after 40 minutes of play.

Thus, Frölunda has not scored a single goal in five periods in the SHL. Malmö, on the other hand, kept a clean sheet for a long time – a clear promotion to the bottom team.

– We focused a lot on the defensive game, Malmö defender Oliver Laurelsen told C more about the team’s development curve.

It has to be what keeps us in the game, what saves us this season, Laurissen adds.

Lasso got it right

However, there was plenty of defensive play for Malmö against Frolland, although Brandon Maxwell was well in goal.

After 6:27 into the third period, Niklas Laso made it 1-0 to Frölunda, completely clear on a pass from Ryan Lasch. A few minutes later, Frölunda’s teen series made it 2-0, with David Edström on top scorer.

Kim Rosedal and Anton Wahlberg equalized with a late goal each for Malmö.
