– It was something that we players were impressed with during the week. We’ve followed the news reports and felt like we wanted to do something and show our support. We wanted to use this event to highlight an issue that interests us. I think it turned out very well and very nicely, says Magdalena Erickson.

It felt so nice and right to shed light on an important issue and show our support for Iranian women and girls, says Magdalena Erickson.
How did the event affect you yourself?
– I was touched and I think what they are doing is very brave. It puts one’s safe and simple life into perspective when you see what they do when they fight a battle and risk their lives for human rights, an issue we take for granted in Sweden.

We only played against them a few years ago and it’s very difficult to watch them from the sidelines. Of course, it is much more difficult for those on earth who wish that everyone had the same rights all over the world, but that is not what it seems. We want to show our position and I think that was a good and important message, she says.
