Sweden warmed up with the home club shirts ahead of the Nations League against Slovenia

A day before the fateful meeting against Slovenia in the League of Nations.

Then the players took the opportunity to pay tribute to their parent clubs.

– It is important to be able to show parents clubs because everyone starts somewhere, says Emil Forsberg.

After losing to Serbia, Sweden must win tomorrow’s match against Slovenia in order not to fall into the third division.

The day before the fateful match, the national team trained at Friends, but when they entered the stadium, they were not wearing the usual training clothes, but the match shirts of their clubs.

– We take a picture of all the players wearing the jerseys with the parent clubs. Also Jan Andersson in Alets IK and Peter Wettergren in Ödeshög shirts. It is very important to point out. It’s a really fun thing. We want to support the life of the club and show where the national team players come from. The idea is also to send to players’ clubs, says national team manager Stefan Peterson and continues:

– When the players entered the dressing room and all the shirts were hanging there, the conversation immediately became a lot. The trips of the national team players began there, in the parent clubs. What you get from there makes you fight and fight to get into the national team.

The national team is depicted in the jersey of the parents’ clubs.

‘Great initiative’

The Netherlands were the first to take the initiative when they trained at their parent clubs ahead of this summer’s League of Nations meeting with Poland. However, the Swedish players took off their shirts after the photo was taken and trained in their normal training clothes.

– It was so fun to see all the moms clubs and where everyone comes from. We’ve talked a little bit about how long you’ve been in the Parent’s Club. I think most people put all the clubs in, but there were some that were a little more difficult, says Victor Lindelof.

Emil Forsberg agree with.

Great initiative, it’s also important to show parents clubs because everyone starts somewhere. It’s great to be really appreciated.

In some cases, it was not entirely clear which club was the parent club. In these cases, players have been asked which club they want to represent, according to press director Jakob Kakimbo Anderson.
