“A big boulder almost hit my head,” Felik Kronen-Zeitung told.

Their first trip to Jordan was not a pleasant experience.

Tania Stroschneider and Sara Velik, who were at the 2016 Olympics, decided to look for a quieter place to train the day before the Continental Cup race than at public beach.

That’s when the scary scenes started.

Suddenly ten men came and cursed us. We’ve noticed that they don’t like women in swimwear, Velik Cronin-Zeitung told us.

He started throwing stones

The attack did not stop at words.

– Suddenly they threw stones. The situation became frankly dangerous. A big rock almost hit my head. Velich said one of them hit Tanya in the back.

The Austrian duo remained in the water. They felt safer and faster from the men out there than the men on the ground.

– We had more luck than meaning. Tanya got a bruise. It could have ended more seriously.

The Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported that a total of 30 men took part in the attack.

Both athletes survived the accident without serious bodily injuries. Tanja Strohschneider finished fifth in the race set the day after the attack and Sarah Velich came third.
