Terrell Eckhoff on sleep problems: ‘The plane crashed’

Norwegian biathlon star Tyrrell Eckhoff, 32, suffered a relapse and took a break from pre-season.

Now she says major sleep problems were the cause.

– It’s not something I wish on my worst enemy, she tells TV2.

Terrell Eckhoffs The absence from Norway’s pre-season camp remained shrouded in mystery. In mid-August, it was only announced that she was “feeling tired after a tough season”.

Now she is opening up about her health and reveals that she has had major problems sleeping for six months.

– I actually started last spring after my viral illness. I kept training and didn’t listen to my body. I wanted to give back to everyone who supported me, but I couldn’t do it and instead had a little life crisis, you name it, she tells TV2.

did not dare to say

During this period, Eckhoff posted training photos on Instagram where she looks in great shape. She says she was afraid to show herself on social media.

And it gets really stupid, because there are people who have cancer, mental illness and all sorts of things, and then I have to come forward and tell them I’m having trouble sleeping…,” she says.

“really serious”

But she does not hide that it was also difficult. Yes, terrible sometimes.

I’ve had these sleep problems for a long time and it’s not something I wish on my worst enemy. It was really serious. I received good help from the health team of the national team and the doctors. I’ve never had problems sleeping before, and when I heard others talk about it, I just thought “Oh my God, how bad can this be?” But that’s too damned, says Eckhoff, now I realize.
