The 2027 Cross-Country Ski World Cup will be held in Falun

Frida Carlson, Jonah Sondling, Lyn Svan and other stars can all look forward to the World Cup on their home soil in five years’ time.

On Wednesday evening, it was clear that Fallon would host the tournament again.

– We are happy and proud, says campaign leader Ulrika Buck Eriksson.

Sweden was the only country to bid to host the World Cup, so the organizers from Falun may not have been sitting down and biting their nails.

But on Wednesday evening, at least the last message came at the International Ski Federation Congress: Sweden could host the cross-country skiing World Cup in 2027.

– we are ready. We are ready to start working until 2027 and we are very happy and proud of this announcement. Welcome to Fallon 2027, says campaign leader Ulrika Buck Eriksson on stage during the conference.

The Nordic Ski World Championships – as it is actually called – will take place in Falun in about five years. Tournaments include ski jumping, a Nordic mix, as well as cross-country skiing.

Callie Halvarson will be approximately 38 years old when the tournament begins.

– That was a letter that might extend my career, now I have to make an honest try for another five years, and then we’ll see if it works or not, but it will be a great challenge, he tells SVT.

In the winter of 2023, the World Cup takes place in Slovenia Blanica and two years later Trondheim becomes the organizer. The last time Sweden hosted the World Cup was in 2015 and until then the tournament was held in Falun. The city also hosted the World Cup Finals in 1954, 1974 and 1993.
