Djurgården was furious with the referees after the first final – later in the evening, sporting director KG Stöbel met the referee’s rule.
Now Modo reacts:
– It’s a way for them to pressure the judges. If that’s what it takes to try and beat us, that’s fine, says sporting director Henrik Gradin.
The first final between Modu and Djurgården ended in an extra time victory for Modu after Sebastian Olsson scored the winning goal.
But most of the talk after that was about the referees and Djurgården’s anger at the level.
Coach Johan Garbenlöf was furious and sporting director Stöbel was furious.
– Should we judge this kind of rubbish when 50 million is at stake? Totally embarrassed, Stubel said.
Just over an hour after the final whistle, Stubel was absolutely furious. He voiced his criticism when referee Bjorn Wettergren came to the hotel where Wettergren and the entire zoo team lived.
The meeting ended with the two sitting at a table to discuss how they see the situation and the future.
Sportbladet captured the meeting, and Modo’s sporting director Henrik Gradin also noted that Stoppel and Wettergren sat down during yesterday evening:
– I think it’s weird, I do. But there is certainly a reasonable explanation for this.
“Then we have a problem.”
Graden interprets the fact that Djurgården makes such strong criticism of referees and also sits down with the referee rule as follows:
– It’s a way for them to pressure the judges. If that’s what it takes to try and beat us, that’s okay.
Yesterday a total of six expulsions were issued. Five for Djurgården and one for Modo:
– I think it was an easy match to judge, and then if it was one or two runners-up too much or too little, I wouldn’t comment on it. But I don’t think it was a messy match, says Graden.
He questions Djurgården’s harsh approach next:
– As in all other matches, it is possible for referees to make mistakes, just as players can. Next game I might be the crazy one for something. But if we’re going to hang referees in the media as soon as they don’t do something well, we have a problem, because then we have to hang them every game, says Graden.
