Sampdoria plays strongly in the first division.
Now the club’s management has received an annoying threat – in the form of a pig’s head.
An accompanying letter reportedly stated “The Head Next to You”.
Last month, according to Ray, Sampdoria received anonymous threats in the form of a loose bullet and a message that read:
“This time the bullet is loose. Next time it will be just right.”
The letter is said to have been addressed to the club’s former president, Massimo Ferrero, and the current vice-president, Antonio Romi.
The club wrote on its website that the club has now received further threats. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, this time it is about a pig’s head and an accompanying message that reads:
“Your next head.”
The classic Godfather scene
Leaving a person’s animal head to show their displeasure or scare them is a classic approach associated mainly with the classic movie “The Godfather”.
In the film, director Jack Waltz wakes up with a horse’s head in his bed as a threat from godfather Don Corleone. Since then, this approach has become popular.
“expresses its strong indignation”
The box was found in the club’s facility, and again this time, it was named after Ferrero and Romy. The club called the police and deemed the incident an apparent act of intimidation. In their statement, they write:
“UC Sampdoria expresses its deep outrage and outrage at the serious act of intimidation that took place this morning on the club’s premises. The club wants to emphasize that any kind of attack on a board member is an attack on all board members and their work.”
Sampdoria ranks nineteenth after 23 rounds and has managed to win only two matches this season. The Genoa-based club has an eight-point lead over Spezia and the safe ground.
