The Ice Hockey Association teaches routine in Kristianstad-Tingsried

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association is manipulating how to handle the sporadic match Kristianstad-Tingsried.

Acting Competition Director Magnus Mårtensson announced that work has begun on routines and how to follow them.

“We can say the match definitely wasn’t going to be played considering how Tingsred felt then and there,” he says.

The Kristianstad-Tingsryd match in Hockeyallsvenskan was halted on Friday evening after a spectator threw a stinging blow near visiting goalkeeper Daniel Rosengren.

The match resumed behind closed doors with a score of 5-1 after 1 hour and 40 minutes, and for 14 minutes and 36 seconds the players stood still and let time run out in the third game.

Swedish Ice Hockey Association File a report on the security arrangement, with Kristianstad risking a warning, a fine, or playing the games to smaller audiences.

– There are six points of the rules dealing with the shortcomings that accused Kristianstad in the security work. Magnus Mårtensson says it’s all about the obvious from the sausage to the smaller parts that I don’t want to go into here.

The match clock is ticking as Tingsryd players stand in the center circle and Kristianstad moves back and forth through their goal cage.

Three different options

Tingsryd filed a competition protest late on Saturday night in which they requested that the game be replayed.

– First of all, we need to determine if the match is over, should it be considered finished or unfinished based on how it ended. If it is considered unfinished, there are three options in the competition regulations. Magnus Mårtensson says it’s a restart, restarting a match or determining which score stood when the match was stopped.

According to him, representatives of the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation are in contact with both clubs after the match was suspended.

However, he cannot respond to the Hockeyallsvenskan league organization.

“You need to review the procedures”

It should not be discussed in liaison with the Ice Hockey Association that the Tingsryd may risk disqualification from Hockeyallsvenskan if they do not return to the ice.

– I would say that the workflow of the situation itself is completely blameless. Magnus Mårtensson says the fact that the match has also resumed is quite good in terms of safety because the fans have left the arena.

In hindsight, given the circumstances, the federation still believed the match should not resume and they have now begun work to find out what went into the routine.

– In terms of pure competition now for later considering what Tingsryd experienced and felt there then the match would not be resumed. Our work routine, how it was managed, did not work out at all points. We have started work on reviewing our routines and how to follow them. We can totally say the match wasn’t going to play given how Tingsred felt then and there, says Magnus Mårtensson.

Resolution during the week

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association sought the views of interested parties in both cases.

The competition committee will make decisions in both cases and hopefully it will be ready during the week.

As it currently stands, Kristianstad will play at home to Beck Karlskoga on Wednesday night without any restrictions.
