The Italian authorities are asking Robinho to serve a prison sentence in Italy

The excursions around Robinho continue.

Last month, the Italian Supreme Court upheld the rape conviction of the former Milan player.

The Italian authorities have now sent a request to Brazil for the 39-year-old to serve a prison sentence in his old homeland.

In 2017, Robinho was sentenced to nine years in prison for his participation in a gang rape that took place four years earlier in Milan.

Brassen appealed the verdict, but after all cases were tried, the verdict was upheld in Italy’s Supreme Court as recently as January.

Since then, the former Milan and Manchester City star has been ordered away from Italy in 2017 to avoid going to prison. He currently lives in Brazil.

And now the Italian authorities are demanding that the 39-year-old be returned to Italy to serve the sentence there.

He issued an arrest warrant

According to Reuters, several local Brazilian media reported that Italy had sent an official request to the Brazilian authorities for the release of the former Brazilian national team.

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that it had received the request and it would be analyzed. However, they did not choose to publish Robinho by name.

Earlier this week, the Italian Ministry of Justice and Interpol also issued an international arrest warrant for the player.

The only problem is that Brazil does not extradite its citizens – which in practice means that Robinho can only be arrested if he leaves Brazil on his own.
