The ladies cap it off with a cocky performance ahead of the 2023 Ice Hockey World Cup

Disrespect took them to the U18 WC final.

Now the talent wants to repeat this achievement in the women’s crowns.

– It’s the finest generation in many years. Especially their vanity, says veteran Sarah Grahn.

17-year-old Mira Jungacker, along with 16-year-old Ebba Hedqvist and Hilda Svensson, took home the silver medal with the junior national team in January.

Jungåker has already played the Women’s World Cup crowns last year, but for Hedqvist and Svensson’s 06s it will be their first World Cup participation in Canada’s Brampton.

– It’s great to be able to do this when you’re so young, says Hilde Svensson.

– We come with a good lead. We must continue to play our game even though we are so young, she continues.

Ebba Hedqvist fills in:

– It’s as if we in the U-18 national team respected the United States and Canada. She says we can defeat them and that they are no better than us.

How far can you go?

– We’re aiming for a medal, says Hedqvist.

– Of course we do, says Svensson.

The star praised her

Hannah Olsson, 24, who was the goals and points queen for Sweden in the last World Cup tournament, impressed the new generation.

– They’re cool because they haven’t been there before and come off with a nice demeanor. Obviously we’re going to win the gold, sort of. I think they should maintain that attitude and just drive. Do not think too much. It spreads to players who have been in the same group for many years. Cool with new and new fans, Olson says.

You don’t want to put a cap on.

The average age of the young Swedish national team is 23 years old. Sweden returned to the World Cup finals last year, and national team captain Ulf Lundberg is aiming to go beyond that tournament.

– Then we played the group final against the Czech Republic, who won the bronze medal. We were playing for fifth place, so the priority is to reach the quarter-finals. But we’re stretching the girth and I definitely don’t want to cap this group’s performance. Lundberg says I’m a big believer in this group.

The World Cup will be held from April 5-16 in Brampton, Canada. The women’s crowns play for the first time against Germany on Thursday 6 April.
