The legendary Johan Davidson is ready as assistant coach at HV71

The legendary Johan Davidson is back in the HV71.

The four-time gold medalist will be the new assistant coach.

“The club will always be a big part of me, and now being able to come back in that role is so much fun,” he says.

After HV71 left the SHL two seasons earlier, Johan Davidson departed as assistant athletic director to athletic director Johan Hult.

After one season in the position, HV71 legend Kent “Nobin” Norberg was brought back by athletic director as an assistant coach.

The 47-year-old will become an assistant coach under new head coach Thomas Montaigne.

– Johan Davidsson has a very good eye for hockey and is one of the best players in the history of the SHL. His proficiency in both the power play and the attacking game will be invaluable to us and we’re delighted to have him back at HV71,” says ‘Nubben’.

Before, it became evident with club legends and four-time SM Gold winner as second assistant coach in the form of Per Gustafsson.

Center Johan Davidsson and defender Per Gustafsson both have numbers 76 and 7 retired on the surface.

They are the two players with the most caps for HV71 with Johan Davidsson in first and Per Gustafsson in second, Johan Davidsson is also Jönköping’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Four new acquisitions completed

Johan Davidsson has 17 seasons with the first team as a HV71 player, the last eleven seasons as captain.

After that he was the assistant sports director for seven seasons and in the last two seasons he was the club’s youth captain.

The contract is being written as an assistant coach for the coming seasons.

On the player side, HV71 finished with strikers Oskar Stoll-Lerinas from Rögle, Isak Bernström from Luleå and Åke Stakkestad from Bik Karlskoga and defender Olle Strandell from Mora.
