The opposition of AIK, Djurgården and Elfsborg is clear

AIK will face Ukraine’s Vorskla Poltava in the Conference League – if they have a team ready to play after the spring in the war.

“We don’t have information on what that means,” AIK Director of Communications Tobias Larsson said before the draw.

Croatia’s Rijeka awaits Djurgården and Elfsborg will meet with Norway’s Molde.

Neither Elfsborg, Djurgården nor AIK entered the draw for the conference league that made their pots.

But all the teams escaped the strongest possible opposition.

However, a lot of unclear circumstances await AIK, who were drawn against Ukrainian Voskla Poltava. A team that has not played football since the outbreak of war on February 24.

The first leg will obviously be played at a neutral level, but the truth is that AIK is not entirely sure if the match will ever be lost. Before the draw, Sportbladet asked AIK if they knew if the team was ready to play, but they didn’t know then.

Djurgården is set against Rijeka and starts away. Elfsborg also starts away against Norway’s Molde.

Malmo FF could also end up in the second round of the Conference League if they are knocked out in their first Champions League qualifier. They then face a loser at the meeting between the Wales New Saints and Lynnfield.

The second qualifying round will take place on July 21 and 28. The exact dates and who plays at home or away from home are determined after the draw. Something could be more complicated than usual when, for example, the representatives of AIK and Djurgården did not come down to attend the drawing due to the aviation chaos that pervaded Switzerland during the day.
