The success of the Nordic medal in EC Athletics in Munich

Norwegian gold, Finnish gold, Finnish silver and Danish bronze.

Friday night was a successful EC Athletics for the North Neighbors.

Today is a good day, says Norwegian gold medalist Carsten Warholm.

Finnish long-distance runner Toby Reitanen, 26, started the medal night with a strong final in the 3000 hurdles.

He ran a very strong race and crossed the finish line ahead of Italian duo Ahmed Abdel Wahed and Osama Zughlam.

– I did a lot of work for this. I saw after the water barrier that there was a small gap and I could take the last dry obstacle in peace. Wonderful moment, Raytannen told Sanomat Helsingen.

Then there were the candidates Karsten Warholm26 years old, to beat 400 hurdles.

The world record holder with a time of 47.12, a second and a half ahead of France’s Wilfried Happio, won the silver medal.

– It was terribly nice. It is comfort and joy. Today is a good day, Warholm tells NRK.

– It was a bit uncertain. The whole season was a little uncertain, but I woke up feeling good. The gold medal should not be taken for granted.

“There are no words”

The evening in Finland improved when 29-year-old Christina Makela took the silver in three steps.

I did it at 14.64 – a new Finnish record. It was her first championship medal in a major context.

– It’s cool, but there are no words. It takes a while to sink in. I’m glad I can talk, not just cry, she told Yle.

In the final final on Friday, Dane Ida Karstoft put an end to his northern medal success. She won bronze in the 200 metres, just beating Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Swiss gold medalist Mujinja Kampunge.
