French striker Kylian Mbappe, 23, is the highest paid player in the world.
The Frenchman earns $128 million, or nearly one and a half billion kronor, this season.
This is according to Forbes, which annually publishes a list of the best paid footballers in the world.
It’s the first time in eight years, as a different player so far Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo peaks Forbes existing.
Kylian Mbappé’s income of SEK 1.433 billion base salary makes up 86 percent of the amount, while the rest is earned, for example, through contracts with companies.
The financial magazine mentioned Messi as the second highest paid player in the world, with $120 million, while Ronaldo came in third place.
Norwegian star Erling Haaland is sixth on the list. This is the first time the Norwegian has been included in the list.
The world’s top ten best-paid players earn $652 million, equivalent to about 7.3 billion kroner, this season. That is an 11 percent increase compared to last year.
To find out the income of the players, Forbes evaluated partly the contracts of the players, partly how much they earn on the football field side.
The magazine also states that they spoke to word of mouth and industry experts and used databases in the process to come up with the stars’ earnings.
