“The warm arenas in the SHL help me”

Örebro is off to a great start in the SHL with new coach Johan Hedberg.

In addition to training in North America, the gloves in the booth distinguish the newly 50-year-old coach.

– The rinks in the SHL are warmer than in Hockeyallsvenskan, and that helps a lot, he says.

Sportbladet previously wrote about why Johan Hedberg wears gloves in the cabin.

After switching from Mora in Hockeyallsvenskan to Örebro in the SHL, he received more attention.

The reason is that he suffers from a rare disease, Raynaud’s phenomenon.

In the cold, he freezes to the point that his hands turn blue, white, red and swollen.

“Little tin barns…”

The more modern arenas in the SHL are generally warmer than the smaller halls in Hockeyallsvenskan.

-Tingsred was cold. All these little things…the matuna was the worst. It was very cold. Fastervik was also cold. These little tin barns get cooler than the yards, says Johan Hedberg.

Örebro has no schedule in the SHL after playing four games and the team is unbeaten with eleven points out of twelve.

Last week there were six points in a difficult round away to Luleå and Skellefteå.

-For me, it’s natural that I’m here to be as good as possible, otherwise you shouldn’t be at this level. Moura and Örebro did the same thing, we were looking for people who really wanted to improve. Then you don’t have to use a blowtorch on people. The strength of this team is that it is a very good group, says Johan Hedberg.
