Tele2 Arena was at a boil when Djurgården ran over APOEL.
After the 3-0 defeat, the players paid tribute to the fans.
People are terrified when they come here, says Joel Asoro.
It’s as if the entire stadium is a monster, and the team and fans are in symbiosis, says Rasmus Schuller.
The atmosphere was electric from the first moment. to me Victor Edwardson Ahlam’s goal scored from halfway through nine minutes later didn’t make him worse.
Over 19,000 fans brought Tele2 to a boil when Djurgården secured a dream position after 3-0 against Apoel in their first playoff match. Europa Conference League.
After the victory, the players applauded for the fans.
– As if the whole stadium is a monster, the team and the fans are in symbiosis. We live and breathe together. “I think a few opponents also feel it’s hard to come here and play,” says Rasmus Schuller.
Have you tried this before?
– I don’t believe in that. It’s very cool. You get goosebumps and you just have to go out and have fun.
‘It was shocking’
Joel Asoro is on the same path.
– They get shocked when they come to Tele2, but it’s not exactly news.
Why are they shocked?
– They used to play in Europe all the time and now they are going to face a team that hasn’t done it excessively… There is always good fan support here. They are the real twelfth player. Just love the fans. People are afraid to come here. It is a feature we should use more often.
Athletic director Bos Anderson confirms that the weather has affected APOEL.
Support leads us forward. I think they had a lot of respect because they were here watching, but from what I heard they were incredibly impressed with the support. Says:
– We got 60,000 in seven days with this frame. Today was something extra. You have to push yourself, you couldn’t believe we’d have 60,000 in place, no matter if we were playing in Allsvenskan or Europe.
But after the final whistle, the players did not want to celebrate much with the fans. After a bit of deliberation, the players chose to end the celebration relatively quickly.
– We know there is a very difficult match, so we will not withdraw anything up front, says Elias Anderson.
Was it intentional, not celebrating much?
– Yeah a little bit like that. But we win at home 3-0 and of course we want to celebrate a little bit.
