Sauna, barbecue and ice fishing in goalkeeper Anders Lindbäck’s house
This is how Brinas will get new energy before the fateful qualifier against Malmö:
– It’s a very important situation we’re getting into and I think it’s a good idea to invite the team home, says organizer Lindbäck.
Brinas were practically ready for the qualifiers on Tuesday, and now they are in theory down 0-5 at home against group winners Växjö.
It was a tough match mentally, hard to find energy and momentum. But now we know what will happen, and it is important to prepare for it as much as possible, says striker Linus Holland.
The qualifier against Malmö kicks off on Tuesday, and Linus Hollande knows what’s most important:
– To meet as a group, for sure. We’ll have a day tomorrow, meet up, talk a bit, and try to be together as much as possible.
During Friday, Brynäs is taking time off from training and will instead head to goalkeeper Anders Lindbäck’s home next to Storsjön a few miles west of Gävle.
– We have a good time there with a sauna and a hot tub, go fishing and have a little BBQ. Get together, talk a little, relax, and gather energy, Lindbäck says.
“He’ll probably be able to get them out of the sauna.”
Are you the one who initiated the meeting at your home?
– Yes, I’ve had a day like this before and we in the driving group believe it’s very important to the group dynamics. To see each other outside the ring and do things together and build relationships a little deeper.
How important is it to consider the position you are in?
– Importantly, sports and hockey are very psychological and it shows a little bit in us today (against Växjö) and against Timrå. There are two games where we have no energy. If you compare Saturday vs. HV, it’s like day and night and shows how quickly things can turn either way, says Lindbäck and continues:
– It is important not to overthink, but to prepare and gather ourselves, meet as a group and straighten out the question marks that are there and then just drive.
I guess it would be an added bonus for the management staff to have a sauna at your place?
– Exactly, the Finns like that. And I can make it so hot, Lindbäck says with a smile, maybe I can kick them out of there.
