Thobias Montler jumped on the shade 8.27

Thobias Montler broke an outdoor record in competitions in Greece tonight.

But coach Yannick Tregaro does not know if he will fully believe in the result.

– It feels a little foamy here, he says.

The Tregaro training group kicked off the season with competitions in Greece.

The second from IVM last winter, Thobias Montler Keep its shape. 8.10 in Kalamata last Saturday was the tallest jumping party in Kallithea tonight.

In the third round, the Olympic four flew 8.27. He tangled up the longest outdoor jump and just eleven centimeters off the record he set in the IVM Final in March.

Montler followed up with 8.21 and 8.11 to confirm the high. Before he jumped away with a giant leap in the final round – which was accurately judged as a red flag.

– The last jump was very long, about 8.50, says Yannick Tregaro who was at the height of the descent when the red flag was displayed.

Montler broke his outdoor record of 8.27 at a gala in Greece – but coach Yannick Trigaro doesn’t dare trust the result entirely.

“It’s easy to jump away”

But perhaps the record books should be glad that they weren’t written like Swedish records. Because the coach himself is a little skeptical about the Greek party he just witnessed.

– He jumps away, sure. But it does feel a little frothy here. The pit is a bit low…it’s very easy to jump too far if we say so, says Tregaro.

More people jumped. Despite 8.27, Montler had to settle for second behind India’s Murali Srishankar who achieved 8.31 in the third round. Frenchman Jules Pomery also hit – really. He never jumped more than eight meters but made an 8.17 in the last round.

In the same competition, Maja Nilsson beat the year best high jumper with 1.91. Fabian Delred won the men’s top of 2.21, also the best race of the year.
