Sweden recovered after losing to the Czech Republic on Thursday.
Against Switzerland it ended in a 2-0 win.
But Tre Kronor had to lay off HV71 scoring king Andre Peterson – who left the ice injured in the first period.
Disturbing images rolled in after just over eight minutes in the first period.
After colliding with a Swiss player, Peterson was left lying on the ice. After a moment he was able to stand himself up, but there was no more play in the game for the 32-year-old, who feared he might suffer a knee injury.
HV’s nightmare
These images seem to be troubling the players, managers, and fans of the crisis-hit HV71 club, which has just ten regular season games left in a negative qualifying position in the SHL schedule.
During the season, Peterson was one of the team’s top gears with 29 points in 37 games played.
– The club’s sporting director Kent “Nobin” Norberg told Hockeynews.se that he doesn’t look good.
However, Tre Kronor did well without Peterson.
After a shaky start, Sweden managed to take the lead midway through the first half through Lukas Wallmark.
Then, Blågult took over the match and had several qualifying chances to extend the lead – but the efficiency wasn’t the best.
In the third period, Oscar Lindberg was finally able to bring the final score to 2-0.
Enroth kept a clean sheet
The best in the Swedish team was Jonas Enroth, who kept a clean sheet and was thus awarded man of the match.
However, he personally thought it was a quiet day at work.
– It was the first five minutes that I had some movement, but other than that I didn’t have much to do, he told Enroth TV6.
Tomorrow Finland awaits Sweden in a decisive match for the championship at the Beijer Hockey Games.
