Now the season is over – after a terrible injury.

It’s been the big talk in the 49ers pre-season, and the news has finally come: the 22-year-old talent and 2021 draft pick Trey Lance takes the throne from 30-year-old veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and becomes the team’s new QB1.
The opening game against the Chicago Bears was ruined by a rainstorm, but in Week Two against the Seattle Seahawks, Trey Lance will finally show what he’s all about.
This was not the case.

At the end of the first quarter, the nightmare came when the 22-year-old bent his ankle while running a play, after which he had to be carried on a stretcher.
Shortly after that came the news: the ankle was broken, surgery was pending and the season was over.
– It’s a hard sport we play and injuries happen, but it’s bad. We’re struggling with Trey, said Jimmy Garoppolo, he’s our brother and we have to give him love now.
Defending star Nick Bossa, 24, went through the same thing in his sophomore season when he tore his ACL.
When that happens, it’s as if life is over. But he says Trey is a strong man, he will come back stronger.
Rewards begin
Many thought the 49ers would trade away Jimmy Garoppolo when they decided to give Trey Lance the starting job, but that wasn’t the case.
The 30-year-old has agreed to cut his annual salary from around $25 million to $6.5 million to remain at the club.
