Vancouver recorded its fourth straight victory against San Jose

New York. Things seem to have finally turned around for the Vancouver Canucks.

They picked up their fourth straight win last night, away to San Jose – and Elias Peterson contributed to their 11th goal of the season and an assist.

– It is clear that we are playing better and more consistently, but we have many steps to take, says coach Bruce Boudreau after the 4-3 victory.

The fall was frustrating for the Canucks. After some effort, they emerged from a deep slump in the early weeks of the regular season and started winning individual matches – but were unable to maintain a high enough level over time. Winter was followed by new losses – and then the same pattern was repeated over and over again.

Now, however, they seem to have turned the corner. The 4-3 win last night — secured by Andriy Kuzmenko in overtime — was the fourth in a row, with the final three coming home.

– A great victory after an excellent road trip. We showed courage and character. We were so tired and outplayed in the third period, but we found ways to recover, says coach Bruce Boudreau.

We are obviously playing much better than before and we are more consistent, but there are many steps that need to be taken to become a better team.

Elias Peterson is one of the few to have made it all season – and he did it again last night. He headed in his 11th goal of the season, off a pass from Oliver Ekman-Larson, and was also responsible for his 16th assist.

The 23-year-old midfielder thus ranks second in the Swedish league’s goalscoring league behind Erik Karlsson. For his part, he provided two new assists and again tied for second in the league in scoring. He is also the first running back in Sharks history to score more than 20 points in one month.
