Växjö drew against Frölunda
As the key players fell away, Växjö’s No. 13 forward surged forward.
Joachim Blechfeld was the goal when Växjö equalized at 2-2 in their semi-final match against Frölunda.
– Frölunda is a bit more attacking today and that opens up more counter-attacks, Växjö coach Jürgen Jonsson tells C More.
There are players Växjö doesn’t want to do without, and team captain Erik Josefsson is one of them.
He missed his third semi-final against Frolunda and would only take 2 minutes 24 seconds on the ice to get into the semi-finals.
It was enough to score.
Three minutes into the game, Erik Josefsson made it 0-1 in Scandinavia.
Alternate record
Martin Lundberg also pulls out early with injury (playing just over four minutes) and then the pinch-hit Dane surges forward for the Lakers.
Joachim Blechfeld started the match as the 13th striker but made the most of his time on the ice due to injuries. In the second half, Växjö made a 0-2 save when Brian Cooper played Joachim Blechfeld.
– I think Frölunda is more offensive today and that opens up more counter-attacks. I think we’re doing well defensively and winning balls and we can instead, says Växjö coach Jürgen Johnson at C. Moore.
Växjö won the match 2-0.
Left at the booth
In a playoff game, clubs usually don’t like to talk too much about players’ injuries, but at least Eric Josephson can stay in the booth when he stops playing.
– He has an important job in our team, so here he pushes the boys, says Växjö’s assistant coach, Niklas Rahm V.C. Moore.
One of his strengths is keeping calm all the time and sending those signals to the players.
