Växjö turned in a flash against Frölunda – a victory from SM Final

Token may have played his last game of ice hockey

Växjö turned around and beat Frölunda 3-2 in the semi-finals.

Frölunda’s Joel Lundqvist received a penalty for a header save and a suspension risk.

It was probably the last thing the 41-year-old did in his career.

Frölunda veteran Joel Lundqvist, 41, has announced that he will retire after the season.

The question is whether the tackle he made on Växjö’s Robert Rosen in the third period was the last thing he did in his career.

Reported to the Disciplinary Board

Lundqvist received a “match penalty” for a head tackle, meaning he was suspended from the match until the matter was decided by the disciplinary board.

– It’s good that Robin (Rosin) is standing up and he’s fine. It’s not a hard knock anyway, says Frolland VC Moore coach Roger Ronberg.

It wasn’t Lundqvist’s only game penalty of the match. Växjö’s Glenn Gustafsson also had to take an early shower after a hard hook in the second half.

– I think both players (Lundqvist and Gustafsson) should play. Many such situations occur and are not caught in connection with the possible suspension, Ronberg says.

Växjö turned around in a flash

Växjö won 3-2, and lead the series with the same numbers. And with that they can decide the semi-final series in Gothenburg on Monday.

The decisive move came at the start of the third period. Manuel Agrin equalized after a rebound and two minutes later Victor Sternborg shot 3-2, played well by Tobias Rieder.

– very nice. I don’t score a damn many goals in a season, says Stjernborg at C More.
