According to the information, Putin was in the coastal city of Sochi, where the match was held, but nevertheless he did not attend. Instead, he sent a greeting video that instead raised more questions.

There has been a lot of speculation about Vladimir Putin’s health lately, not least after a video clip at the end of April when he appeared during a meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu holding a tight fist on the table.
There have also been reports that Putin is undergoing cancer surgery, something the Kremlin has denied.
