Warner Hahn is leaving IFK Gothenburg

Guthenberg. He won the hearts of Blåvitt fans and was one of Allsvenskan’s best goalkeepers in 2022.

But now Warner Hahn, 30, says he is leaving IFK Gothenburg.

– He says it’s about politics, not about my accomplishments.

After being pressed for three games in favor of new acquisition Pontus Dahlberg, former first-choice goalkeeper Warner Hahn had a chance once again between the two places in the IFK Gothenburg When Dahlberg was sick against AIK.

The Dutchman with roots in Suriname put in a solid effort again in the 1-0 win over Gnaget, but knows his time at IFK Gothenburg is coming to an end.

The contract expires at the end of the year, and Blåvitt does not appear to be using an option extension.

A lot has happened in the last 10-12 days. I’m glad I did this feat.

“I’d like to stay”

What kind of signals does it send?

– It’s not about sending any signals. If you look at my stats, they speak for themselves. I can only follow what I’ve done before.

– I’m happy with the ninth half clean. My goal was to keep ten clean sheets this season. Maybe I’ll get the chance to hit that goal, says Hahn with a wide grin in the mixed zone at Gamla Ullevi.

What do you want for your future at IFK Gothenburg?

– I told the club last summer that I really wanted to stay. We had a discussion, I was about to sign a new contract but wanted to extend for more than a year.

– We didn’t talk for a while and then IFK Göteborg Pontus (Dahlberg) signed. Then the club said something to me without saying a word. Sometimes football is weird and sometimes it’s a business.

– Now we might end up shaking hands. I go in one direction, the club goes in another. Pontus and I enjoy training together and laugh a lot. Not a problem.

Maybe your last game in front of the home crowd?

– Likely. I don’t know how the coach will perform in the future. It is his decision. The reason I didn’t play wasn’t because of my performance, because I was one of the best players in the league. Sometimes football is politics.

Ericsson contract expired

Another player with an expired contract is veteran Sebastian Ericsson. The 33-year-old played a strong match centrally in the midfield of IFK Gothenburg against AIK.

He says about his future:

– We said we’d take it after the season. I have dealt with it. I think everyone knows what I want.

What is this?

– I want to play in Blåvitt, said one of IFK’s greatest favorite stars in Gothenburg.

It remains to be seen if Ericsson, unlike Hahn, will be offered a new contract.
