In his documentary “Pogumentary,” which he co-directed with The Athletic, he talks about the game behind the show and why it happened with the club.
– It started when I hurt myself. Then I told him I was going to Miami for rehab. There, paparazzi took pictures of me and Zolay (wife). Mourinho did not like it. I said to him: Are you serious? I am injured and train three times a day. what do you think about me?
This led to a rift between the Frenchman and then coach Jose Mourinho.

The documentary also features a dialogue between Pogba and his then-agent Mino Raiola, who passed away in April.
There they talk about the first time the 29-year-old left the club on a free transfer, when Pogba was 19 years old.
By that time, the club’s coach had offered him a contract that neither he nor Raiola was happy with.
– I was shocked. We took ours and said we were leaving. Then we ran. Sir Alex may have never experienced anything like this before, Pogba says.
“Error”
According to the documentary, Pogba was determined to show that United had made a huge mistake that failed to meet his salary requirements.
– How do you tell a player you want to keep and then give nothing? I haven’t tested that before.
