“Zero Energy – Very Strange”

Maya Stark, 22, missed the limits of the playoffs at the Scandinavian Mixed League this weekend.

Now your golf talent will rest an extra week to recharge.

I went into the third month without rest with a lot of training. She says it no longer bothers the body or the brain.

The 22-year-old from Abbekås Golf Club stepped in as a newcomer on the tour last season – and racked up two wins in a row.

This year Maja Stark She played at home another professional title, but in the European Tour competitions in Halmstad this weekend, she missed the qualification limit.

Then Stark announced that she was changing her schedule and taking a two-week break to recharge.

– I haven’t really had a day off since I went to Thailand and competed two months ago. She says, ‘It was a lot of golf and it was fun.

“I don’t think about how bad I am”

But only later did I think about the fact that she hasn’t been the same off golf courses lately.

– He had a rather short heel and mood swings. I now notice how much pain I feel in my body, but I was so struggling with feelings of competition that I didn’t think much about how much pain I was in.

How did you come to this realization?

– When I missed the “cut” at the US Open (in early June), I felt like something was wrong with my head, in the situation. Golf felt very difficult, she says and adds:

– You made strange mistakes. I happened to cut myself and didn’t think clearly. There was no energy in the brain. Very strange.

‘I didn’t act like I did’

Did those around you notice that everything was not as usual?

– Yeah, in the beginning it was my boss who was at the US Open who wondered what was really going on, because I didn’t act like me. I myself did not think about it. I thought I was fine no matter what happened – and I did – because I was running 24/7 and playing golf. I didn’t sleep well, but it was quiet because I gained energy from what I did during the days. Now I have entered the third month without rest with a lot of training. It no longer irritates the body or brain.

So now I decided to take a two-week rest.

– I had to rethink. Before, it was just a complete swing and gas. I had planned to take a week off and then drive another three weeks, but I have to change that a bit.

Swedish success: “I’m not surprised”

On Sunday, I met Swede of the same age, Len Grant, 22, and he’s back in the Scandinavian co-ed home in Halmstad by far. Historic victory as Grant is the first woman to win a competition on the men’s European Tour.

– I’m not surprised. She has her head in the right place. It seemed like she thought it was too easy – unlike the others, Maja says with a laugh.

– I’m just sick happy for her.

A little over a week ago, amateur Ingrid Lindblad, 22, had a huge hit at the US Open as she finished her 11th season. Another proof of the good growth of Swedish women’s golf.

– I participated and I know they (Ingrid and Lynn) have it. I’m not surprised, I’m almost surprised that others are surprised that things are going so well. But they are simply good. Maja Stark says it’s great to get more attention.
